Chisago 72 Hour Release Limits
Chisago County provides a current inmate locator, not a three-day release archive. The official interface has no “released,” “last 72 hours,” or booking-date-window control. County quick links do not identify a second feed. The jail FAQ describes the locator as an up-to-date roster of inmates housed in the jail, which frames it as a view of current custody. No official update cadence or released-person retention period is stated.
A blank search across three days cannot reconstruct past roster states. People who were booked and released between checks may never be seen by the requester. Others may vanish because they moved to another jail or correctional system. The most sound substitute is a defined records request for releases processed during the desired range. If the county does not keep a compiled report, request the existing records or log fields sufficient to show the events.
Request Chisago Three-Day Releases
Start by choosing exact timestamps. “Over the weekend” can be vague because it may mean Friday evening through Monday morning, three calendar dates, or the most recent 72 rolling hours. A clear start and end time gives Records Management a defensible scope. Ask first for an existing release log. If the sheriff does not maintain that compiled list, ask for records sufficient to show release events processed within the range.
- Set the beginning and ending date and time. Include the time zone if the request is sent from outside Minnesota.
- Use the county’s Information Disclosure Request Form and identify Chisago County Jail as the facility.
- Ask for each public name, booking number, actual release date and time, release disposition, and receiving agency for the period.
- State that existing records are requested. Do not require staff to create a new report or analysis.
- Ask for electronic records or inspection, and request the legal basis for any field withheld or redacted.
- For one name, also search the live locator and call the jail to clarify release versus transfer.

Chisago 72 Hour Release Fields
Because no official Chisago County three-day table exists online, these are request fields rather than promises about a web feed. Name and booking number tie each event to the correct jail stay. Actual release date and time place it inside or outside the chosen window. Disposition and destination show whether the person returned to the community or remained in custody elsewhere.

Eligible Release Date is different. It is a prospective field found in the locator’s result data and can change before processing. A court order can authorize a release, but the jail entry records when the person actually left Chisago custody. Charges, bail, holds, and court-branch details help explain the record. They should not substitute for the actual release timestamp.
Chisago Weekend Release Requests
A three-day inquiry often begins after offices reopen. The county does not publish a special weekend-release policy, release-processing hour, public waiting point, or holiday-posting schedule. Do not infer one from a delayed web result. Instead, define the period by clock time and let the actual jail record show when each event was processed.
The records office itself is closed on weekends and legal holidays under its posted weekday schedule. That affects when a requester can contact staff, not necessarily when the jail releases a person. A Friday court event may lead to a later jail processing time. A Monday inquiry may also involve data review before releasable records are supplied. Neither lag changes the underlying release timestamp.
Minnesota has a weekend rule for some state-prison supervised-release dates under section 244.05. That statute depends on offense date and applies to state release scheduling. It is not proof of a Chisago County Jail weekend practice. County-jail events should be read from the sheriff record, while MCF–Rush City releases belong to the Minnesota DOC system.
Chisago Roster Retention Is Unstated
The county’s locator includes labels for Eligible Release Date, Release Date, Booking Status, charges, and holds. Yet Chisago County does not publish how long a released booking remains searchable. It also does not say how often each field refreshes. This gap is why repeated roster checks cannot serve as a reliable three-day ledger.
The county FAQ adds another local caution: a missing person may be housed elsewhere. Someone transferred to the Minnesota DOC, another county, USMS, or ICE has left the Chisago jail roster but has not returned to the community. A person may also be missing due to name variation or data lag. The release disposition and receiving agency resolve those possibilities more directly.

The search is useful for present custody and identifiers, but it supplies no control that reconstructs the prior three days.

Chisago Release Request Rules
Minnesota Statutes chapter 13 governs access to government data. Section 13.03 provides for access to public data at reasonable times, allows free inspection, and permits authorized copy charges. Section 13.82 governs law-enforcement data. Its subdivision 18 makes an important point for a 72-hour request: the statute does not require the agency to create or maintain data that it does not otherwise keep.
That rule does not prevent a focused request. It changes the wording. Ask for an existing release log, or records sufficient to show release events between the two timestamps. If information is withheld, ask the county to cite the legal classification. Active investigative data, protected identities, juvenile information, medical details, and other classified data can require withholding or redaction.
The sheriff publishes tiered fees. Fewer than 19 pages are free; 20 to 39 pages cost $5, with higher tiers through 99 pages. Requests of 100 pages or more cost $25 plus $20 per hour. Photos are $1 each, and a CD or DVD containing records is $20. These amounts matter only if that format or volume applies. Free inspection may be the better choice for a broad range.

Route Chisago Releases by Custody
Chisago County Jail, MCF–Rush City, and federal systems keep different records. The sheriff record is the source for release from the county jail. The Minnesota DOC Locator applies to people committed to the commissioner, including an incarcerated state prisoner or a person still under DOC supervision. BOP covers sentenced federal prisoners, while USMS handles federal pretrial custody. ICE has its own current detainee locator.

A VINE notice is not a countywide three-day list. It should be paired with the sheriff record when the exact release event or destination matters.
Choose Chisago Release Scope
A broad 72-hour request answers who left during a defined span. It can involve more records, more review, and more redaction. A named-person request answers whether one booking ended, when it ended, why, and whether another custodian received the person. That narrower question is often easier to identify through booking number and SPN.
